Verification options

Verifying the identity of a user is critical before that user can access medical records, and PKB supports a number of different options depending on the existing workflows of the team.

In-person verification

The clearest way to verify identity is to check identity face to face. An employee of the organisation sees the patient - or the carer of the patient seeking access to the patient's record - and checks their photographic identification, including:

  • passport
  • driving license

Home carer verification

PKB can generate a letter to verify the carer relationship of a user. The organisation can send a letter to the home address of the user. The letter explains to the user how they can self-register to PKB if they do not already have an account. The letter has the details about the patient which the carer enters to access to the patient's record. Full instructions are in the: Provide carer with self registration details page.

Home identity verification

PKB’s APIs allow a self-registered user to claim the record the organisation had already created for them.

Home identity and carer verification

PKB are currently designing a feature to allow a self-registered user to claim the record the organisation had already created for them.

Combining the features above, an adult patient and carer can verify from their home address their identity to access their own record and their carer identity to access the record of another patient.
