Mass registration of patients by clinic kiosks

You can register a patient using their clinic kiosk check-in to verify their identity. This is highly scalable allowing you to register patients who are already primed to think about their health, i.e. while waiting to see their clinical professional.
You can customise your kiosk yourself, or alternatively speak to Jayex - your kiosk company. You can also contact your PKB team for advice.
- The user starts check-in process at the clinic.
- The kiosk verifies that the identity of the user, matches the identity of the patient. This is done by asking the user to enter the patient's date of birth and last name, and ensuring that the time of check-in is within one hour of the appointment time.
- The kiosk offers the user the opportunity to register to access the patient record. The patient can say 'yes' or 'skip registration'.
- The kiosk shows the user a reminder that they cannot register on behalf of a patient without the permission of the patient. The user must confirm they have read and understand this.
- The user enters their email address and mobile phone number.
- The kiosk makes PKB API call to receive invite code and access code unique to the patient's record. The codes decrypt the patient's record, allowing the person registering to see the record.
- The kiosk sends an email to the user containing one code and an SMS with the other code.
- The user clicks on the link within the email to register on www.joinpkb.com, ideally with one code already pre-filled.
- The user enters code from the SMS (and the code from email if the link did not pre-fill this).
- The user enters the date of birth of the patient as another security step.
- The user enters their email address, password and security answer to register with.
- PKB sends a confirmation message to the email address.
- The user clicks on link in the confirmation email to complete registration.
- The user can log into PKB with this email address and password to see their health record.

The ORGANISATION_PORTAL_NAME will allow you to view information about your health such as test results, letters, and upcoming appointments. Once you have registered we will send you clinical correspondence via the secure portal rather than by post.
This service is provided on behalf of the trust by Patients Know Best, who will notify you by email when new content is added to your record.

- Give patients a reason to register. Over 95% of patients that had at least one blood test done, complete registration. If you tell patients without a blood test why they should also register (e.g. to receive clinic letters and discharge letters) they are more likely to do so.
- Let patients know before they come to clinic that this is something available to them in clinic. For example, provide a leaflet with information that also outlines the benefits, in the same envelope as the letter about the clinic appointment.
- Remind patients in clinic about kiosk registration through posters, or a pop-up stand next to the kiosk.
- Send your email and SMS codes after clinic is finished. Patients register more quickly later in the same day. (Registration rates are similar during and after clinic hours.)
