Use this guide as a basis for writing your PKB case study. Many of the questions have prompts for direction.
Answers to these questions should be specific and clear. You can skip questions that are not relevant but only do so if it is completely outside of the scope of the case study.
Who are the stakeholders/audiences this case study is intended to target? (limit to one or two groups)
Does this case study relate to a specific PKB product, feature or service? If so, which?
What should this case study demonstrate to your readers?
An ability to be adaptive? The depth and breadth of your experience? Your ability to adapt to change?
Is there any local or national context that should be included to help readers understand the case study better?
Section 1: About the Organisation
What is the full name of the organisation and specialty team?
What sector are you in, and what is your position within the sector? (i.e. Private, NHS/primary, secondary, tertiary care)
Example: Leading health care provider in the South-West.
What are the important details about your organisation/specialty team that should be shared?
Do you have multiple locations? How large is the organisation/team? What population do you cover? How many people do you employ etc?
Can you include any testimonials in this case study?
If possible, feature both the name and the job title of the lead in the project, in addition to their quote. A headshot or a picture taken on location (insitu) would be even better. Also include, if possible, a quote from a patient/user of the service.
Do you have explicit permission to use any names and logos for this case study?
Section 2: Your Challenge
Why did you want to use PKB within your specialty team?
Were there problems that you wanted to resolve by using PKB?
Was this a new problem or a pre-existing one? Was it a result of policy changes or other changes within the sector? Or was it an unforeseen consequence of another action?
What were the expected outcomes from working with a supplier like PKB, to solve this problem?
This will be referenced back to in section four.
How did you approach the challenge?
Did you base your response on experience, or was it a brand new challenge that required you to think outside of the box? Who on your team was involved?
How were you involved in this stage?
Did you collaborate on a strategy? Did you collect feedback to inform what your ultimate solution would look like? Were there pilot or testing phases?
Why was PKB chosen as the solution?
What particular aspects or features of PKB did you want? How would this help overcome the issues you were facing? (Remember, only include details here that the target stakeholders would care about.)
What was the timeline?
How long did it take to plan/design/develop the approach? How long did it take to implement PKB?
Did PKB solve the stated problem or accomplish the objective(s)?
(See section two)
What immediate benefits did you see because of the work you did?
Increased employee capacity/productivity? A better system, platform or service for patients/users? These can be soft results.
What benefits should you see because of PKB over time?
Increased savings? Improved patient communication and engagement?
Are there specific KPIs, measurements, statistics or ROI data you can share that clearly demonstrates the value of PKB to your service/ strategy?
Please include what each statistic is, as well as over what period it was measured and its relevance to the objective. For example, 1600 outpatient appointments reduced over a one year period.
Which of the PKB features would you deem to be the most important? Why?
Finally, would you agree that PKB solved the problem or helped achieve the intended goal/s?
Have you obtained any relevant consent to use the information contained in this case study? (This should make it clear how the person should be addressed within the case study and how it may be used.)
Do you have an appropriate image(s) to accompany this case study?
